Latvian residents little interest in EP elections

Polls show that a majority, or 80% of residents are not interested in the upcoming June this year the European Parliament (EP) elections, and it has the lowest interest among Member States in the block, show the European Commission's sociological research center "Eurobarometer" survey.

Only 19% of respondents in Latvia indicates that it is interested in the upcoming EP elections. On average, the European Union (EU) for the upcoming European Parliamentary elections are showing interest in 44% of respondents. This view is also 36% of Estonia's population and 44% of the population.

Most interested in the upcoming elections are the Irish and Dutch populations.

At the same time, 28% of the population indicates that it is imperative to take part in EP elections. Equally large numbers of respondents in the EU average, indicating that it is imperative to take part in the upcoming election.

As reported, the EP elections in Latvia will take place June 6 this year while the municipal elections. Latvia desire shared by eight MEPs mandates.
